Lee E Olmstead, 71
Lee E (Lonergan) Olmstead, 71, died Tuesday, October 18, 2016 in Harrington Hospital, Southbridge after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 40 years, Lucien A. Olmstead; a son, Luke A. Olmstead, both of Webster; 3 sisters, V. June Butcher of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, Mary H. Lonergan and Ann N Stochaj both of Dudley; 2 brothers, Paul J. “Lefty†Lonergan of Webster and Gary and his wife Carole Lonergan of Alexandria, VA ; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce S Brezniak and 2 brothers, L. James Lonergan and Reverend Richard V. Lonergan.
She was born in Webster, a daughter of Leo V. and Helen E (Smykowski) Lonergan and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Saint Louis High School in 1963.
Mrs. Olmstead was the executive secretary to the Webster police chief as well as a matron for 19 years, retiring in 2003. She had also worked as a clerk at Nipmuc Liquors. She was one of the 5 original employees of Commerce Insurance, working as a statistician.
She was a past member of P.A.T.T. for the Webster Public Schools, of the Webster Arts Council and of the Webster Lions Club. She was a member of the Hubbard Regional Hospital Guild and had served on its board of directors. She was an elected official on the Webster Housing Authority. She was part of a close-knit group that had become friends when they were in grammar school, the “4 M’s and the Lâ€, who got together regularly. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, cooking and spending time with family.
Service Information
A memorial Mass was held on Saturday, November 12, at 11 A.M. in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street (please meet at church). Burial was in Saint Anthony's Cemetery. There were no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the giver's choice. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street.
