[ARCHIVED] 12th Annual Junior Police Academy

Welcome Parents and Students to the 12th Annual Junior Police Academy. First off we would like to extend a Thank You to the parents, students, and citizens of Webster for allowing the Webster Police Department to conduct such a great event.  The cost of this event is free; this is in part to the other community policing events that are held throughout the year, donations given to the Webster Police Department, and from monies earned from fundraisers.

As it is written on the top of this letter the Webster Police Department is “Community Committed”.  The Webster Police Department has not only conducted the Junior Police Academy for the past ten years, the department also holds a “Hoops for Hopes” program for young adults on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7pm to 10pm during the summer months.  The Webster Police Department also holds other events, such as National Night out event each year.

For the Junior Police Academy, your son/daughter will be introduced to many different assets the Webster Police Department has to offer to the community. All of the instructors teaching with the Junior Police Academy have been through a rigorous 21 week full-time Police Academy. Some of the instructors have specialized training in the fields that interest them. During the Junior Police Academy they will see, hear and even participate in demonstrations from various Police Officers in units such as, K-9 Unit, Traffic Unit, Crime Scene, Community Policing, Detective’s, Defensive Tactics, and many more topics that will be covered.

Inside this packet is a list of items each student will need every day when coming to the Junior Police Academy. The Junior Police Academy students will be put through some form of Physical Training during the week. For this Physical Training we ask the parents to make sure prior to each day of arriving at the Academy, that if the student needs an inhaler or some other form of medication it is to be with them. Due to liability if they do not have the medication, the student will not be able to participate in any physical activities for that day.

The Junior Police Academy will be held from July 27, 2020 to July 31, 2020. Each day will be from 7:00am to 3:00pm. The academy will be held at the Webster Police Department 357 Main Street Webster, Ma  01570. Deadline to submit a completed application will be June 14, 2020 by 11:00pm. Any questions please contact Detective Bruce F. Hamm at 508-943-1212 Ext. 1250 or email at Bruce.hamm@websterpolice.com
