[ARCHIVED] ADA Commission opening

The Town of Webster is seeking an interested resident to become a  voting member of  the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Commission. The purpose of the Commission is to coordinate and/or carry out programs in coordination with programs of the Massachusetts Office on Disability (MOD). The Commission promotes full and equal participation, inclusion and integration of persons with disabilities in the activities, services and employment opportunities within our community.


The ADA Commission:


* Advises and assists municipal officials in ensuring compliance with federal and state disability laws.


* Reviews policies and activities of municipal departments and boards as the impact persons with disabilities.


* Provides information, referral, advocacy, and technical assistance to individuals, businesses and organizations in all matters pertaining to disabilities.


* Coordinates the activities of other groups organized to meet the needs of persons with disabilities. This would be done under the title of special project coordinator.
