Staying Cool in Webster during Oppressive Heat and Humidity
Cooling Stations will be available Wednesday and Thursday
WEBSTER, MA - Tuesday July 19, 2022:
The National Weather Service announced a heat advisory for Southern Worcester County today. Heat index values of 95 – 102 degrees will be in effect until 8 p.m. tomorrow, July 20th. Similar conditions are expected to continue through Thursday, July 21st before slightly less humid weather arrives on Friday.
Please take extra precautions working or spending time outside. Strenuous activities should be rescheduled to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible, and drink plenty of water.
As a reminder, young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Car interiors can reach extremely high temperatures in a matter of minutes. Check on your neighbors and loved ones, as well.
Cooling Stations, with water and air conditioning, will be available Wednesday and Thursday at the following locations:
- Webster Library (Gladys E. Kelly Public Library – 2 Lake St)
- Wednesday 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- Webster Senior Center (5 Church St)
- Wednesday & Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
