Town Meeting is your chance to be involved in our Town and to set the tone and direction for our elected leaders. How many times do you look around and see things happen or not happen in town government and think you would like to change it? Well, Town Meeting is your means to make changes.
Town Meeting, which dates back to the 17th century, is the legislative body of the Town. Town Meeting must approve all By-laws for adoption. So when the Webster Police, the Webster Department of Public Works and even Town Meeting, itself, wants to implement a By-Law, Town Meeting makes the final decision.
The Webster Town Charter requires the Town of Webster to hold two annual Town Meetings yearly, the first is to be held on the second Monday of May and the second, to be held the third Monday in October (Town By-Law). The Town can also call as many Special Town Meetings as the Board of Selectmen or 200 registered voters request.
